Mission Statement

Salient Contemporary Art Gallery fosters a vibrant and inclusive art exhibition space. We’re bridging the gap between the real and virtual worlds with curated rotational exhibitions in our Second Life Gallery. We provide a gallery experience for emerging and established artists alike, with opportunities for exhibitions, particularly for artists without access to gallery space.

Why Second Life?

I chose Second Life because it is a well-established virtual world with thousands of residents and a thriving arts and culture community. Second Life residents are an open-minded, supportive audience that appreciates artistic expression and cultural experiences. 

Salient Gallery aims to bridge the gap between the real world and Second Life by bringing real-world art into the virtual world and providing a gallery exhibit experience for emerging and established artists. Many artists who exhibit at Salient Gallery may not be familiar with Second Life. Still, through this process, these artists and their networks of friends and family are introduced to the virtual world, and many will create avatars to log in and view the exhibit, thereby growing the community.

There are so many excellent galleries in Second Life that focus exclusively on Second Life-related artwork, and they do a terrific job representing that segment. For that reason, Salient Gallery focuses exclusively on real-world art and does not exhibit Second Life content. However, we welcome the opportunity to support fellow galleries with collaborative efforts and coordinated exhibits.
